Flaming Beehive HOWTO
Sick of those pesky bees and hornets building nests all over your yard? Well, they'll move if you set them on fire frequently enough!
Follow the directions below at your own risk. Please note, the gas going to the backyard grill was turned off at the source in advance. If you blow yourself up, you're stupid. Don't try to sue me.
Step 1 - Piss them Off
Observe the bees, and throw things at their nest to piss them off. This makes all proceeding steps much more entertaining.
Note that the little yellow specks are increasing in number. Yes, they're the enemy!
Step 2 - Construct Gasoline Delivery Aparatus
Duct taping a used beverage bottle to the top of a broom stick and then filling it with gasoline works quite nicely.
Step 3 - Dump Gasoline on Beehive (multiple times)
Sorry, no pictures for this one. I was the only one around, so I can only do one thing at a time. Well, at least the only one outside.
Step 4 - Construct and Ignite Ignition Source
A paper towel on the end of an old rake handle doused in lighter fluid is a good ignition source! You might be thinking to yourself, why didn't he build this
in Step 2? Well, if you think about it, after dumping gas on the hive, the bees were really pissed off. This gives them a little bit of time to calm down (heh)
Note the spilled, used gasoline aparatus in the bottom right corner of the first picture.
Step 5 - Fire in the Hole!
Burn the little bastards!
I'm dismayed to point out that the initial flames (within the first 5 sec or so) were much more impressive. Unfortunately, I was unable to capture them on film. Regardless, the objective was achieved.
Step 6 - Rinse and Repeat
I did this more than once, as there were still pieces of the hive left intact. When you're finally done, feel free to flush the remains out with water, or just let it smolder.
